Our Kimberley experience with Discovery One exceeded all our expectations. The entire experience from the moment we boarded the boat until we disembarked the flight back to Broome was jaw droppingly beautiful. Discovery One is a classic refurbished Manly ferry. Our room was very comfortable and access to the shared bathrooms was not an issue at all. The shared spaces on top and out the back were perfect for cruising times to take it all in or find a quiet spot to read. Meals were beautifully presented fresh and yummy.

I recently returned from a 12-day boat cruise from Broome to the Mitchell Plateau, and I can honestly say it was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. Every day brought something new – from ancient rock art to breathtaking landscapes, and the entire trip was seamlessly organized from start to finish. One of the highlights was the frequent tender rides, which took us deeper into hidden gorges, remote beaches, and secluded waterfalls.

Each day was an “Oh, wow!” series of experiences. Just a few of my favourites included the amazing aboriginal cave art, whales (up close, like they swam to the boat and cut across the bow), sea eagles, osprey and their nests, Brahminy kites, Kimberley boabs and butterflies, crocodiles and turtles, stingrays and giant trevally, sharks (swam at the back of the boat), rock wallabies, dolphins, the Montgomery reef and amazing waterfalls. And that’s just for starters.

We are a fun and relaxed cruise of maximum 21 guests and 6 crew. You'll enjoy meeting like-minded people over family-style evening meals and sunset drinks.
We strive to ensure a quiet and restful night’s sleep for all guests. Therefore, we generally avoid travelling at night, but at times the tides dictate otherwise.
Our cruises offer excellent value for money, with scenic flights and transfers to and from your accommodation included, reducing extra costs for you.
What is included?
All transfers and accommodation are included as specified in each of the cruise itineraries. All your meals and excursions operated by us on the boat are provided. The exceptions are purchases from the bar, souvenirs and any optional excursions provided by 3rd parties. A Boat Account is kept for the duration of the cruise for your purchases and we ask you to finalise this at the end of the cruise using Visa or Mastercard.
Do you give a discount for group bookings?
Yes. If you book 2 or more cabins on the same cruise in 2026 we will provide you with a $500 per person credit. Bookings do not need to be made at the same time. If friends or family wish to join you they just need to flag with the booking office and/or put these details on the booking form, the surname of the people that they are joining. The $500 per person credit will be applied to all final accounts. Offer is exclusive, not available in conjunction with any other offers.
What type of vessel is Discovery One?
Discovery One, originally built in 1984 on the Gold Coast and christened Matilda II, began her journey as a ferry for Captain Cook’s Cruises in Sydney. Renamed Discovery One, she has been cruising the pristine waters of the Kimberley for the past 24 years. Over this time, she has been carefully fitted with modern systems, while preserving the charm and history of her classic design.
A 25-metre steel catamaran, Discovery One is designed for comfort, stability, and adventure. With four spacious levels, she provides a luxurious yet intimate setting for just 22 passengers. The vessel offers an abundance of recreational space, including a comfortable, air-conditioned lounge with a licensed bar, an alfresco dining area, and a rooftop sun deck that provides panoramic 360-degree views of the Kimberley’s breathtaking landscape—complete with a rooftop spa for ultimate relaxation.
Thanks to her shallow draft and exceptional stability, Discovery One can navigate hidden gems and remote areas that larger vessels simply can’t access. This includes inland waterways and some of the Kimberley’s most secluded coastal treasures. Her unique design also allows us to hug the coastline, sailing through smooth, sheltered waters that ensure a comfortable journey and easy access to extraordinary land excursions. The result is a truly personalised and intimate exploration of one of the world’s most pristine wildernesses.
What do I need to bring with me on a cruise?
Our cruise packages have a 10 kg per person luggage limit (camera bag plus duffel bag). To help reduce luggage weight, we provide many essentials onboard, including high-quality linen, soft towels, beach towels, Salus Organic shampoo, conditioner and body wash, as well as hairdryers and sustainable sunscreen from Feel Good Inc. We also supply insect repellent from Good Riddance and Lemon Myrtle Fragrances and walking sticks for your comfort. For a full list of recommended items to bring, please refer to the Cruise Guide located at the footer of our website. To make your journey even more convenient, we offer a complimentary daily laundry service onboard, provided by our friendly and professional hostesses.

We have the capacity to accommodate up to 22 guests. In the past, we've had the pleasure of hosting various types of gatherings, including travel groups, and birthday celebrations.
